The ultimate showdown:

Espeon v Umbreon

Generation 2’s Eeveelutions go head to head.

We all know the winner, but how do they compare?

Espeon VMAX 270/264 Illus. Kouki Saitou

A stunning depiction of Espeon living its larger than normal life.

Artist: Kouki Saitou

He has been working on Pokémon TCG illustrations since 2002, depicting the liveliness and charm of Pokémon in a range of habitats.

You will recognise a lot of his artworks including: the 9 card Crown Zenith art, various poncho Pikachus, Mario and Luigi Pikachus, Sprigatito illustration rare, crystal Charizard and many, many more.

Espeon’s value is still high. But when you compare it to…

Umbreon VMAX 215/203 Illus. KEIICHIRO ITO

The moonlight Pokemon.

Artist: KEIICHIRO ITO

Started doing illustrations on Pokemon cards at the end of the Sun and Moon era in Unified Minds. He only had opportunity to work on on common, uncommon and rare cards. That was until he was finally able to illustrate a chase card. The heavily sought after Moonbreon.

His other artworks that you may recognise include the Crown Zenith: Galarian Gallery Keldeo, and the Iron Treads ex. His full list can be found here.

Up and up, the party doesn’t stop with this one.

Umbreon has always been slightly more popular than Espeon, proof in Google Trends.

As of 2020, Umbreon barely pulled ahead, and with the addition of the amazing Moonbreon card it has gone much further.

Both the Espeon and Umbreon alt arts are both hard pulls from their respective sets; Fusion Strike and Evolving Skies.

Espeon Alt pull rate: 0.05%

Umbreon Alt pull rate: 0.04%

*These are estimated

So, the low supply is there to raise prices on both cards, but the demand is way higher for Umbreon.

And as something gets more popular, it only gets more popular.

That’s a wrap!

I hope you enjoyed the eleventh edition.
